How long does saffron last?

Saffron does not technically expire, but it gradually loses its potency. When stored in a cool, dark place in an airtight container, it maintains its peak flavor and aroma for 2 to 3 years. Beyond this time, while still safe to consume, its signature intensity and vibrant coloring properties will slowly begin to fade.
