How to know if it is real saffron or fake?

Authenticity lies in the details. Real saffron has a deep red color (with no yellow bits) and a distinct trumpet-shaped end. When soaked in water, it releases a golden-yellow hue slowly, while the thread itself stays red. If it colors the water instantly or the thread turns white, it is likely a dye-filled substitute.
